Just hanging in there

Well no news I suppose is good news. The heading probably says it all. Bottom area still posing problems and yesterday just about called it quits which I don, t want todo.  So hanging on with fingernails.

Continuing from last post.

Well I got to see at nurse at Omapere.

Cathy was her name and I fluked an appointment as health system under severe pressure. Meet I was late away from omapere on the road butt least I was able to continue. Butt is not in good shape. Two abrasions they are called now, one small one has cleared up. She was so helpful and got pads on the area,  pads are used for patients with bed sores and proper cream for situation. As well as Panadol for pain. Just need to keep taking the pills but I don,t like to do. Have real thoughts on north health system as I reflect and can really see the problems they have. Huge area to cover, not the resources to do so. Put my mind in a different position to previsit. COVID is going nuts as expected and could tell a whole story on that related to medical centre visit but need to push on. So little time and with one finger to type. So sorry about typos if anyone reads any of these.

After visit to dr and a bit of rest was able to get on bike and push on, most of my mates were well ahead of me. Short shape hill to start ride about 11am and goal not resett and hoping to get to dargaville.

Had some hope was how I would describe the mental state and I was virtually pain free, combination of drugs, free pads , two pairs of pants and just some hope. Just went at my own place and off I went, all alone almost all the way. Saw Tane Mahuta in Waiopoa forests at end of a long climb for about 10 km but not crazy steep like some. Meet Roger Davies daughter from home. Saw roger a couple of weeks ahoand he never mentioned that his daughter Nicki was doing this? She and her partners were just arriving at the big tree as I was leaving. They asked was I from gissy and so we had a great catch up. I know now others gissy riders in the event. They looked powerful, and were day behind me in starting, sadly a ferry crossing of the Kaipara harbour had been cancelled on them as the planned to really put push on so found a spare day and going now to for me have a less pressure on them to rush to poutu point. Saw Nick after ferry that you can see us loading and it was close I suppose to 10 pm after unloading in Pariki and they were pushing on to Auckland that night. Just amazing.

  1. Go Lyall. I hope your butt gets better as time goes by. It would be a real "bummer" if it led to give up.

Can you say hi to Mark for me? He is a long time colleague of mine who I have a lot of respect for.

    Stay strong and carry on.
